Are You Hungry?

Here are my first two charity quilts for the year, and number 30 and 31 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

The starting point were these 8 fat quarters that I won in a giveaway a few years back. They are the FOOD collection from Timeless Treasures. The fabrics have been residing in my shelves for a long time waiting for a project.

What was I going to make with them? I know the hospital always need quilts for the children's ward, so the best idea was to make a couple of charity quilts.

I divided the fabrics into "dinner" and "dessert", cut them into 5" squares and added background fabric that suited the main fabrics. Black background was correct for this one.

Simple straight line quilting with the walking foot and a reddish thread enhances the foods.

Look at these sweet doughnuts and cookies! Straight line quilting in pink was the correct thread for this quilt.

Black background wouldn't have worked with these main fabrics, but white and pink solids makes this a cheerful and sweet quilt.

Both quilts are backed with this grey and black flannel, and are warm and cozy. The first one has a solid green binding, while this one has a fun striped one.

Finished size is 36"x54" for both of them.
