Vintagey Farm Girl Tractor Wall Hanging

I managed to finish my wall hanging by the end of November, and here it is!

Consisting of two of Lori Holt's vintage tractor blocks it will fit in well with my barns.

This is my favorite tractor, the green fabric look vintage and a little 'rusty', and the yellow trimming just fits perfectly. I did a combination of FMQ and straight line quilting over the whole quilt.

The steering wheels were embroidered with DMC thread in the end.

On the solid green tractor I did some FMQ to give it a bit of texture. It worked out well!

Now my wall is going to look great with three barns and two tractors!

My first tractor

This is what I accomplished while watching National Knitting Night until past midnight. The tractor is designed by Lori Holt. I plan to make another one and put them together in a wall hanging.

May's last finish

My version of  Lori Holt's Quilty Barn Along was finished late last week. Here my wall hanging is on display outside on my fence.

Three barns are just perfect for my wall. The first barn is a traditional red barn, but with a plaid roof. A smiling sun in the attic window gives it a spark.

Number two is made of green/gold wood-fabric. The corn fabric in the pinwheel and the black cat in the attic window gives this barn a touch of Halloween. I hand-quilted the "straw"-roof of this one.

The third barn has vines growing all over it, and the roof is machine quilted to look like shingles. The attic is full of butterflies!

The outer frame is quilted with loops and swirls, and the binding is orange with multi-colored stripes.

Then another one of my UFO's are done!

The barns are multiplying

Lori Holt's Quilty Barn Along is on it's steady way to completion. So far I have made three blocks, here is Barn #3:

I have not yet decided if I will make another one, or be happy with three. The row of barns will be a wall hanging on a 3/4 high wall we have between the living room and the kitchen. I think the quilty barns will look good in that space.

Here the row is spread out on the floor. Eventually, there will be sahsing and border around when the quilt is completed. I am looking forward to the final result!

Aurifil May block

The May block in 2013 Aurifil Designer of the Month was a simple one to make. It reminds me of the pinwheels the kids carry in the May parades; bright and cheerful.

Second barn completed

The picture is a little dark; the golden wood-stripes in the green fabric stole most of the light. But, anyway, the barn turned out OK. I like the Halloween cat in the attic window, and the corn-on-the-cob fabric in the pinwheel.

First barn assembled!

Lori Holt does not only host the Row Along, she has also started The Quilty Barn Along. I am a late starter with these blocks, but they are fast to make, and I guess I will have caught up with Lori when she comes out with the next block.

Today I am working "together" with Bonnie Hunter on Quilt Cam, finishing the stitching on the December block of 2012 Aurifil Designer of the Month (I am a little late on finishing this one). The sashing will come on later this evening, and a photo of the block will appear on the blog tomorrow. Then it is decision time for how this quilt will be assembled; I have a pretty good idea, already.
