Opposites Attract - Blog Hop (and giveaway!)

Wednesday it's time for the blog hop Opposites Attract hosted by Marian of Seams To Be Sew.

For this blog hop we were to make a small project using maximum 3 colors (or fabrics). Good contrast between the colors would be optimal, for example green/red or blue/orange in the color wheel above are good examples of opposite (or complementary) colors.

I chose to make a table runner from the book Lines by Design Quilts by Debbie Grifka. A couple of months ago I won this book myself in a blog hop. There are 17 wonderful modern quilting projects in the book. Of course the selection was kind of limited since there was a size limit for the chosen project.

I chose the table runner Watermark, with a finished size of 13 1/2" x 30". My three colors are black, white and coral.

The background fabric is a black and white print, the accent color is a coral print, and the contrast are white circles. The circles remind me of the marks a water glass leaves on a wooden table.

The table runner has a masculine feel to it, and it would fit in well next to an open fire.

I used the Basted Bias method to create the circles, and it is the first time I have used that method. I think the result is pretty good. Watermark is quilted with circles echoing the applique.

You can see the quilting more clearly on the back. I stuck to my three colors also on the back, with Britten Nummer by Ikea. The binding is a coral solid. There was a pretty powerful breeze during the photo shoot, that explains my fingers holding down the corner of the runner.

I wanted to make a few extra small projects for the hop, and when Make Modern came up with the #MMminimini challenge on Instagram, I knew I had to make a few.

Above are the first three I made, in three colors each. The first one is 5" x 5", the second (tulip) is 2 3/4" x 4 1/2", and the last triangle is 3" on each side.

Now for the giveaway:
