Brioche-Sandwich Hat

I needed a new woolen hat for the winter, and when I saw this pattern by @sasha_knits I knew I had to knit one. It turned out beautifully, and I know this will keep my ears warm during the winter!

Fall is here

I got very inspired by all the different maple leaf quilts that can be found pictures of around on the web. I decided I needed to make one on my own. I gathered all my seasonal fall fabric, and here is the first block made; 12 1/2" square. I will make a modern version, with lots of negative space.

I also managed to finish my knitted cotton cloth. It has been a long time since I knitted such a "complicated" pattern as this. There will be more of these in the future, though in different designs. It is a perfect project to work on in front of the TV.

Work in Progress

I have not been knitting for a while, but then I borrowed a  book at the library with gorgeous patterns of wash cloths/kitchen cloths. I started this one with red cotton yarn, and I love the way the design looks!

This is a good project to work on in front of the TV. Underneath you get a glimpse of my new ironing board cover, bought at IKEA. Yes, I know, there are so many great tutorials for ironing board covers out there, but I just don't have the time. The old cover desperately needed to be changed out, and I really liked the look of the new one, with scissors, clothes, and sewing machines!

This is a sneak peek of my latest quilting project, basted and ready for quilting. This is a table runner and will be gifted to friends of us when I finish the quilting and binding. It is a colorful one!

Happy quilting!

First finish in January

I started this knitting project in the middle of December, and finished it today. The knitted hat is made of 100% wool yarn, which is very appropriate since it is -13 decrees C (8 deg F) outside. It will be good to wear tomorrow morning when I have to wait for the bus.

This knitting was a good travel project, while the rest of December/early January was dedicated to Celtic Solstice.

National Knitting Night

The Norwegian broadcaster, NRK, is kicking off National Knitting Night tonight, Friday. You can read more about it HERE. Several hours of knitting, and all there is connected to it. I will be watching/listening to the TV all night, while quilting (!)

I used to knit a lot, before, but now quilting has taken over my spare time. I had to do a little knitting now for the special event, because my local TV station is collecting knitted patches of 15 x 15 cm (approx. 6" square) to make into a giant blanket. The blanket will later be sold on an auction to benefit charity.

I only made one patch, but it is double sided. Here it is:

 The first side.
The second.

And here you can see that it is indeed double-sided. The patch will be put in an envelope tomorrow on its way to an exciting patchwork-blanket. The TV station will publish pictures of the patches and the finished blanket on the web. I will post a link later.

Happy knitting to all of you!
