What I am working on

This weekend I managed to piece my Scrappy Summer quilt and pin baste it. This week will be dedicated to machine quilting. The quilt is a really colorful one, but just wait until you see the back!

Another one I am working on is this English Paper Pieced project. It will become a small baby blanket when it is finished. This is my first real EPP project, and I just love working with it, it is so relaxing!

But, this is not enough, I also cut the pieces for a small, secret project I have not had a chance to make earlier, but now the opportunity emerged. More about this later!

Keep on quilting!

WIP Wednesday

The blocks for my scrappy charity quilt is coming along. While making the four-patches I start assembling blocks. This will be a happy, scrappy quilt. I use lots of scrap, both "ugly" and cherished. There's even an old, pink cell phone in this picture!

The assembly line is not working full speed, I only have limited sewing time after work, but the number of blocks are growing at a steady pace!

Keep on quilting!

Progress on my EPP Project

I was at my local quilt guild meeting last night, and made good progress on my hand sewing project, a small English Paper Piecing (EPP) baby quilt.

I tried to avoid the temptation of shopping the gorgeous fabrics and books that were for sale from my LQS, and concentrated on the hand piecing of my project. The pattern is a freebie from Lynette Anderson, and I am using fabrics from the Birchtree Lane line from Connecting Threads.

It is so relaxing to work with this hand-sewing project, this is something I really enjoy! There is no rush to finish this one, no deadline in the near future...

ALYoF Goal for November

My goal for November is to make this pile of 96 scrappy squares together with the same number of four-patches into a quilt similar to Cluck Cluck Sew's Scrappy Summer, see below.

This will be my 10th charity quilt for the children's ward at my local hospital.

Quilt Doodle BOM 2015 - October's Block

This is my version of the October cat designed by Cindy. He is a tribute to my orange tiger-striped cat that died a year ago at the mature age of 16+ years. My cat is all dressed up for Halloween, and I managed to finish the block just in time yesterday before the trick-or-treat'ers started ringing the door bell.

This is the favorite picture of my cat, taken a few years back. I love the way he looks so relaxed and superior; like he has full control over the world! I will always remember him, he was a good companion and comfort to everyone in the family his whole life.

October ALYoF goal achieved!

Yesterday I finished my table runner, which I have called the 'Not So Bewitched Runner' due to the fact that in the pattern it was all in Halloween colors, but I decided to make it in a color scheme that could work all year round.

It is always fun to display a finished project in a not so likely spot, but what is better than this car in the playground? The lighting is also good to show off the quilting.

The hood of the wooden car is a perfect spot for stretching out the runner. The dimension is 18" x 54". The print fabric is from the line Birchtree lane by Connecting Threads.

A playground is the perfect place for a photo shoot. I used Britten Nummer by Ikea for the backing. The binding is a grey/black print I bought at Hancock Fabrics a few years back.

I love how the crisp white background enhances the prints, and together with the colors of the slide it makes a perfect display.

The last picture is taken on my deck. It was an overcast day today, great light for photos.

This concludes my ALYoF project for October, and it is also my second goal for the 2015 Finish Along List for the fourth quarter.
