Summer Scrap Bash Quilt

My scrap bins are constantly overflowing, and this year I joined the Summer Scrap Bash 2025 to see if i could reduce them. I decided to cut scraps into 1.5" to make a scrappy log cabin quilt.

I dug through my scrap bins to find suitable scraps for kids since this quilt was going to be donated to the children's ward at my local hospital. There are novelty fabrics, different animals, cars and tractors, and lots of other interesting fabrics in the log cabins.

The placement of the 8.5" blocks (unfinished) are totally random, I only aimed for a very colorful quilt that will be suiltable for both boys and girls. 48 blocks ended up with the finished size of 48" x 64".

A donated duvet cover made a perfect quilt back. The quilting ws done with the walking foot in a simple crosshatch design, using variegated Aurifil thread #3817 .

Photo session was done on a windy day with my apple tree in the background.

This is my third charity quilt for the year 2025, and number 114 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

Keep on quilting!

Falling for a Puff Quilt

Fall is soon over us, with low sunrays and falling leaves, but nature gave us a few summery days with temperatures crawling over 20 degrees C. Perfect for taking the Puff Quilt outside for a photo session.

This is the first puff quilt I have made, and it was an interesting and fun process. It is made for a newborn baby girl, with lots of colorful and interesting puffs. The quilt is now gifted, so I can show you the finished project.

The quilt consists of 10 x 10 puffs, all made from fabrics from my stash. The intention was to make lots of focal points in the quilt, and at the same time get a very soft playmat. I raided my scrap bins for colorful, fun prints.

Here you can see the gorgeous soft puffs in and angle. In addition to the puffs filled with PolyFil I added two layers of cotton batting in the quilt sandwich.

The backing is perfect for this quilt with a cute couple of teddy bears having picnic.

I was contemplating to hand-tie this quilt, but since it would probably be washed often, I settled on machine quilting in the ditch between puffs. I also added a fun striped binging in pink and grey.

The finished quilt measures  approximately 32" square.

Keep on  quilting!

Baby Quilt For A Very Special Girl

Finally I can show this quilt here after the baby girl is born and the quilt has been gifted!

The design is called 'Crossing Canoes', and I was fortunate enough to be able to cut out the block pieces with my Accuquilt cutter.

25 'Crossed Canoes' blocks  makes up a quilt of 44" square, before wash and dry cycle. It is quilted by myself in a heart and loops FMQ design.

The quilt back is very interesting, it is pieced by 11 different pieces of  'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' fabric. This quilt back may be even more popular than the front for the little baby girl!

The latest charity quilt

I totally forgot to blog about my latest charity quilt that I made in March, but better late than never, so here it is:

This quilt was designed by @ladybugsew and the pattern was published in @quiltemagasinet .

The size is 39" x 54", great for a young child. I like the design very much, and I had the perfect fabric line in my stash to make it;  Birchtreelane by Connecting Threads.

It is quilted by myself with the walking foot.

This is my second charity quilt for the year 2025, and number 113 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

Keep on quilting!

New Colorwash Quilt

My third colorwashquilt was a joy to make, I love the process! A great way to use scraps, using Terry Rowland's tutorial, @trowstudios.

The very colorful baby quilt is even more fun when looking at the backing, consistingn of seven different pieces of The Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric, seven pieces for this one.

Finished size 39" x 45".

This is my first charity quilt for the year 2025, and number 112 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

Keep on quilting!
