My first quilt finish for the year is this Bright Birch Trees quilt designed by Amanda Jean of @crazymomquilts . It uses all those tiny scraps from the scrap bins in addition to a solid background.
I made twelve 12.5" blocks for the assembly, and brought the finished quilt out in the Winter Wonderland forest for the photo shoot. We've gotten lots of snow lately.
There are not birch forests around, so the nearby spruce forest had to do. But the bright birch trees really brighten up the picture.
I added a dark red border to get the quilt to a good size, it measures 40" x 52". It is quilted by me with a grey thread in a meandering design.
The backing is this fun print from a duvet cover in soft flannel. This quilt will truly be a double sided one!
Here's a close-up picture of the quilt, one can see all the tiny scrap pieces it consists of. Even the binding is scrappy.
This is my first charity quilt for the year 2022, and number 80 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.
Keep on quilting!
Cute quilt, a great way to use up scrap pieces. The quilt looks cozy, happy stitching!
