Travel kit

I taking a long flight tomorrow, and have prepared some hexies so I can do some sewing by hand since I have to be without my sewing machine for a few days.

The pair of scissors have traveled with me before, they are tiny and flight approved. Lets see how this project will look when I return!

Block #13 of Blogger's BOM

I finished it last night, and used the nice light today to take pictures.
Here are all the 13 blocks. It will be interesting to see how we are going to sew them together, the instructions will follow next month.

BIMB row #2 is done

A perfect fall day to display my first two rows of the sew along, the last rays of sun were caught before it set.

This year the apple tree bloomed very late, so the apples are tiny and not fit to eat or process. But, they made good support for my two rows!

Halloween Quilt #2 finished

My DH and I took it with us on our Sunday walk in the forest. It was partly cloudy and the light was perfect.

The charity quilt is made for a boy, and the back reflects this.

Here is a detail picture taken inside, showing off the quilting and the multicolored orange binding.

Another detail picture.

I managed to finish it well in advance of Halloween, and it will be on its way to the hospital as soon as possible.

Quilting started

Just a quick post to show that I started quilting my latest Halloween Quilt.

The same design, though a bit bigger, in the attic window blocks. I'm doing both free motion quilting and using my walking foot.

I will be occupied a few more afternoon/evenings after work on the quilting, and then it will be time for the colorful binding.

A cute pincushion

I made this little pincushion today. It will accompany my 'Friendship Embroidery Mini Quilt' on its way to Canada. It is not only a nice present, but also a good support in the package that will cross the Atlantic Ocean.

Halloween quilt top finished

I finished the top of my second Halloween quilt snd took it outside for a picture on my porch wall. This was in-between some heavy rain showers, and the partially wet fence and pretty heavy wind made the top to sort of glue itself to the wood.

I wondered a while what kind of fabric I should use for the outer border. On the original pattern from Red Rooster Fabric, which is called 'The Quilt Shop', there were small flowers on the border. But, I wanted this charity quilt to be suitable for a boy, so I used some camouflage fabric instead. When it is quilted I will put on a multicolored orange striped binding to brighten up the edge.

The way the quilt top is hanging the top stars (six of them) over the roof are not shown. Below I added one of them (sorry about the piece of lint on the fabric). I made them all with spiderweb fabric. I think that fits the quilt perfectly. Now I have to figure out what to use for the backing fabric.

I linked this to Amy's Creative Side to show that I completed what I planned to do.

Aurifil BOM for September

Outside we have real fall weather, with lots of rain. What is better to do in these circumstances than being indoors creating? This month's block came out yesterday, and now it is finished. It is a sweet block that is really appropriate for the season. I made my own 'variegated' thread by using one strand of two different colors in the stitching. This gives more life to the leaves, in my opinion.
Here I have put together the 9 blocks that have been published so far in this BOM. I think they look great together with the different blue/green sashing. This will be a nice quilt to put up on my wall in a few months time!

Second Halloween Quilt coming along

This attic window will be the center in my second Charity Halloween Quilt. I enjoy making this one. Have to work hard to be able to finish it before October.
