Tetris Quilt

The last day of June, and I am ending the month with this color explosion of a quilt! The design reminds me of the electronic Tetris game that was popular way back when.

I love scrappy quilts, so when I found a paper copy of the Links pattern by Sharon McConnell of @colorgirlquilts when tidying my sewing room, I just knew I had to make it. You only need approx. 20" of each 2.5" strip to make the blocks. I dug into my supply of strips and came up with this result.

The backing is constructed of  two fabrics in the complimentary colors of blue and orange. The quilting is a simple stipple design in green thread, and the binding is also green. Finished size of the quilt is 40" x 60".

This is my twelfth charity quilt for the year, and number 56 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

WaffleCone Quilt

Outdoor pictures of quilts are always the best, natural light shows off the colors in a perfect manner. The mystical forest is one of my favorite places.

My #WaffleConeQuilt is displayed by my favorite quilt holder in the forest; the uprooted tree, aka the Troll!

It is amazing that this tree is still alive, the roots have hardly any soil around them.

The quilting was done with the walking foot, evenly spaced straight lines.

The WaffleCone quilt is a free pattern from SuzyQuilts. My version turned out to be 50" x 62" after quilting.

This modern quilt with its bright colors and design would be great for one of the older kids in the children's ward at the hospital, the hospital is always in need of quilts for boys.

The back was pieced from three different fabrics.

This is my eleventh charity quilt for the year, and number 55 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

Pinwheel Pincushion

Pincushion Parade.

I felt like making a super cute, summery pincushion as a little project in-between. The pincushion is made from 12 charm squares or 2.5" squares. Mine is made totally from scraps.

Brick Quilt

I have seen a lot of brick quilts being made, lately, so I thought to make one myself.

I dug into the scrap bins and cut 2.5" strips of nine different fabrics, and then cut the bricks in 6.5" length. Sewing them together in a random setting left me a quilt looking like this.

Finished dimension is 36" x 48", a nice size for a small child.

It is free-motion quilted with loops and swirls in a pale pink thread. Binding in a warm, dark red solid.

Our little house guest had to pose on the finished quilt.

This is my tenth charity quilt for the year, and number 54 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.

More Items Made in May

Here are a couple of items I made in May and have not blogged about, yet.

First out is my version of the #bombazinemitt . The oven-mitt is made from repurposed jeans and batting scraps. I hand quilted the colorful side with Aurifil thread 12wt in green color #2890.

The only new item is a layer of Insul-Bright to keep the heat away from my hand when using it. This side is machine quilted with Aurifil 50wt in color #2890.

Pattern testing the 'Betsy Ross Quilt' for Katie Malan design, gave this lap sized quilt that will be donated to the children's ward at my local hospital.

This is my ninth charity quilt for the year, and number 53 all time for the children's ward at the hospital.
