Started a new project!

This weekend my husband and I started cutting up some of his old shirts. The plan is to use the fabric for a quilt using Bonnie Hunter's design Bricks and Stepping-Stones. I think this design will be great with the fabric we have. He really needs a warm quilt in this cold weather. I am now cutting the 'bricks' for this quilt, and I hope I will be finished cutting tomorrow.
Last week spring seemed to be coming, but during the weekend it started snowing again. I am definitely ready for spring, lets hope it comes soon! In the mean time I will be indoors cutting and sewing bricks and stepping-stones.

Here is a picture of how the quilt could look like (borrowed from Bonnie's website):

A finished block!

The first block of the BOM 'Stitched by me' is finished! It was fun to make. Unfortunately the colors do no show off as good as they are supposed to in the light indoors at night. Tomorrow I will be headed out to QuiltegĂ„rden to buy block #2.

Spring seems to have come early this year, rain and relatively warm temperatures are dominating.Where I am living, though, we have had so much snow that it will take quite some time before spring flowers will emerge. But, we are heading towards summer!

Work in progress

Just a few words about my newest project, Stitched by me by Lynette Anderson. The first block is assembled, the text is transferred, and now I have to do some appliqué and stitching. I'll be back with the finished block.

My own design!

I saw this quilt block contest at Crazy Old Ladies Quilts and figured out I had to enter. I decided I had to create a block of my own, and I have named it 'Sunset Squares'.The block measures 12.5" square, finished size 12". Now I'll have to figure out where to use this block.

The secret is revealed!

Today I can show my secret quilt, since the receiver will not see it until tomorrow, on Valentine's day! I found the design in !Sew We Quilt! , and I made my version of it during the weekend. It was a fine little project, and fun to make as an in-between quilt.
Now I can concentrate on 'Stitched by me' by Lynette Anderson. I started assembling the first block of this BOM yesterday. I really enjoy it!

Pouch for my new smart-phone

When I got my new HTC, I also got a pouch for it. A black one. Not too interesting. I decided to make my own, and here is the result: A new quilted version!

The picture does not show the correct colors due to the light, though. I will definitely make a couple more of this kind, it was fast and easy to make.

It smells so good!

I had the urge to bake today, and the result is a lovely smelling orange/lemon cheesecake. I want to eat it right now, but I can't. I am bringing it to work tomorrow to share with my colleagues. I'm looking forward to the cake-break!

Cutting the scraps

I have just started organizing my leftovers/stash, cutting them into strips and sorting them into ziploc-bags. Then the strips will be ready for future projects. It just takes time cutting, when I rather would be more creative. But, one has to do some groundwork before the house can be built! Back to work...

Not much sewing going on lately...

I have been taking a break after finishing two quilts in two weeks. Plans for new quilts are made, the BOM 'Stitched by me' by Lynette Anderson is purchased, and I went to my first local quilt guild meeting last night. There are so many nice projects to be made!
